Between Two Worlds: Heaven

In his book Heaven, Randy Alcorn writes,

"The climax of history will be the creation of new heavens and New Earth, (defined as) a resurrected universe inhabited by resurrected people living with a resurrected Jesus."

When we think of heaven, do we think of the place where there will be no more sorrow and no more tears?  Or, do we think of the place where our loved one who have died are now living? 

 Uh, I thought they were the same place.
