Does it seem strange to you that, as Christians, we're often more comfortable hearing God from the lips of a preacher or the pen of an author than we are from God Himself? 

Did you ever wonder why? 

Why did the children of Israel run from the voice of God when He spoke to Moses at the mountain?  And why did they beg Moses to speak to God for them?  What did they fear?  What were they afraid God what going to discover about their lives?  What were they hiding?

Probably the same things we're hiding today.  Sin. 

No wonder God doesn't speak to us like He did in the past.  Just like those wandering in the desert for 40 years, we really don't want Him to.
